The Cape Sounion Grecotel Exclusive Resort has been chosen as the Conference venue and is a beautiful resort. The resort is 30 minutes drive from Athens Airport and 9kms from the town of Lavrion. Central Athens is 67 kms away. Built right on the beach, and within a national park the resort has a relaxing get away feel. It is arranged in small bungalow and villa clusters, with a central reception block that also has the Conference rooms, a couple of restaurants and the main bar areas with elevator access to all. Other restaurants are scattered around the resort. Whilst of a relatively compact size, golf cart transfers around the resort are available for those with mobility issues on request. It is anticipated the Conference will have almost exclusive use of the resort. Views of the Temple of Poseidon and the sea are special features that can be enjoyed throughout the resort. This venue has modern facilities and well appointed accommodation in a variety of standards that are all very family friendly.
Accommodation is in villas and bungalows with double/twin share rooms (including for single use).All have independent air-conditioning, safe, TV with satellite channels, CD and DVD, minibar, hairdryers and deluxe toiletries, robes and slippers and most have tea & coffee making facilities.
Bungalows have an open plan design, with floor to ceiling sliding glass doors onto a terrace. Each bungalow features a master bedroom with ensuite dining and living area including a sofa bed for an additional person and ensuite bathroom with soaking tub, vanity and WC all with frosted glass doors. Garden/Mountain view bungalows have attractive views of the gardens and national park. Seaview bungalows view the Aegean sea and the Temple of Poseidon (from most).
Family Bungalows are designed to accommodate families travelling with up to 2 children. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed and sitting/dining area and the separate living room has two sofas that convert to twin beds comfortable for children. The bathroom has soaking tub, vanity and WC and is accessible to both rooms. The terrace is accessed via the master bedroom.
Villas – Garden features a comfortable, beautifully appointed master bedroom and separate junior bedroom furnished with twin sofas that convert into beds-the perfect extra space to set up a separate working area, accommodate children travelling with parents or another travelling companion. The open-plan lounge with dining area and lounge offer ample space for guests to spread out. The bathroom has spa showers, a soaking tub, and exclusive toiletries. A private terrace with hand-crafted bamboo and wood furniture offers panoramic views, most with views of the Aegean Sea and the Temple of Poseidon.
Villa with private pool as above but also has pool deck with plunge pool and most have panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and the Temple of Poseidon.
There are six attractive restaurants and three bars, pool bar, beach bar and a tea zone at the Spa offering a variety of Greek and international cuisine and beverages. Room rates include breakfast an excellent quality smorgasbord in the main restaurant. The mini market stocks a small range of food, soft drinks, pharmacy and beach related items. The Kids Club offers a variety of activities on a daily basis for children 4-12 years. Sporting facilities include two sandy cove beaches, several swimming pools and children’s playground. For those requiring more activity there are also tennis courts, and for those looking to relax and be pampered there is an excellent Health Spa.
There are ATM facilities in the hotel complex, in addition Reception will change foreign currency and they accept all major credit cards. All costs can be charged to the room except the mini market.
Mobile phone coverage is available and reception is fairly good, but some areas of the resort have limited reception. Wireless Internet is available in the main building and conference areas but is limited or unavailable in accommodation areas. An internet café with a couple of terminals will be available however if you require regular access, for more than e-mail access etc then it is strongly suggested you bring your own lap top/ipad. Facilities do not provide for conducting extensive private business. Please advise of any special needs re diet, physical disability etc that need to be considered in planning to ensure your comfort and enjoyment of the conference and associated events.
Block bookings have been made to secure advantageous rates. Accommodation bookings can only be made through the Secretariat and the hotel will not accept direct or agent bookings.
The first night’s accommodation is payable as a deposit at the time of booking (if during the early-bird booking period). The entire balance is payable on 11th February 2013. Bookings made after 11th February require payment in full at the time of booking. Additional items expenditure by Guests at the hotel will be charged to their room account, and must be settled with the hotel prior to departure.
