NB Delegates will require a Visa to enter Egypt. These must be obtained in Australia prior to departure.
DAY 1 Sunday 7 June
Samos-Athens-Cairo
After breakfast, check-out of the Doryssa Seaside Resort and transfer to Samos Airport. Fly to Cairo with a connection in Athens. Arriving in Cairo and clearing customs an afternoon transfer will take you to the Hotel Sofitel El Gezirah, located directly on the banks of the Nile, and which is a modern luxury 5 star hotel. After check-in there is plenty of time to relax, enjoy the facilities and the view before an early evening felucca cruise with welcome drinks on the Nile before returning to the hotel for a traditional Egyptian dinner at the hotel's El Kebabgy Restaurant. Overnight Hotel Sofitel El Gezirah.
DAY 2 Monday 8 June
Cairo
An early breakfast and departure to beat the heat will make the trip to the Step Pyramids, the Pyramids and Sphinix at Giza and the Chepos Boat display a comfortable and memorable day. During the tour you will have lunch at the Orangerie. En-route back to the hotel you will visit a papyrus gallery for a demonstration of Paparus production , see the exhibition and shop. Returning to the hotel early afternoon allows you the rest of the day to relax and later have dinner of your own selection at one of the hotel's many restaurants. Overnight Hotel Sofitel El Gezirah.
DAY 3 Tuesday 9 June
Cairo
Again breakfasting at the hotel, the tour will then depart of a sightseeing tour of Cairo which will include the Archaeological Museum including the Tutankhamen Treasures , one of the many impressive mosques and the Bazaar. Lunch will be at Naguib Mahfiouz within the bazaar area before returning to the hotel for some leisure time. In the early evening meet in the hotel foyer to go out to dinner at the floating Blue Nile Restaurant. Overnight Hotel Sofitel El Gezirah.
DAY 4 Wednesday 9 June
Cairo - Aswan - Abu Simbel - Aswan
This morning requires a very early start to check out of the hotel and travel to the airport in time for the flight Cairo to Abu Simbel, with a brief stop in Aswan on the way. Once in Abu Simbel the early start will all seem worthwhile as you experience the sights of one of Egypt's true highlights - the twin temples of the Pharaoh Ramesses and his wife Nefertari. After this visit transfer back to the airport to fly to Aswan to join the beautiful cruise ship that will be the group base for 3 nights. Lunch on board before the opportunity to visit the Great Dam and the Obeliski. A felluca trip will also give the opportunity to see Kitchener's Island with its botanical gardens, the Elephant Island and Aga Kahan's Mausoleum, before returning to the cruise ship. Dinner and Overnight on board.
DAY 5 Thursday 10 June
Kom Ombo & Edfu Temples - Esna
As for all meals during the cruise, breakfast will be on board the ship prior to transferring to the tour bus to visit Kom Ombo, the temple there dedicated to the God Crocodile and God Haroeris, before returning to the cruise boat for lunch and to sail to Edfu, an ancient Greek city, visit the Temle of Oro, one of the best preserved in Egypt. Afternoon provides a welcome break while sailing on to Esna. Dinner and Overnight on board.
DAY 6 Friday 11 June
Esna - Luxor
Breakfast while sailing to Luxor. On arrival transfer to the coach to visit the West Bank of the Nile, the Valley of the Kings, before continuing on to Hatshepsut Temple of the only female faraon , El-Deir, El-Bahari and the Colossie of Memmon. Return to the cruise ship for lunch. In the afternoon it is time to visit the East Bank, Cannak Temple, the Sacred Lake and the Temple of Luxor. There will be some leisure time to explore and shop before returning to Dinner and Overnight on board.
DAY 7 Saturday 12 June
Luxor
Breakfast on board before checking out and departing the cruise ship. Transfer to the 5 Star Hotel Sofitel Old Winter Palace in Luxor. After check-in the remainder of the day is at leisure to relax, shop or explore before a farewell dinner at the hotel.
DAY 8 Sunday 13 June
Luxor - Cairo - depart Egypt
After breakfast check-out and transfer to Luxor Airport for flight to Cairo in time for the onward connection for those departing Egypt on SQ 217.
